History of GNCS
Founded by Canon James Wong of the Chapel of the Resurrection to bless and serve the community, Good News Community Services (GNCS) began its mission in 1991 by serving residents in Bukit Batok through the Sonshine Childcare Centre. In 1992, the services expanded to Pasir Ris with the establishment of the Pasir Ris Family Service Centre, and in 1999, GNCS further extended its reach to Tanglin Halt through the Commonwealth Student Care Centre.

All registered charities will enjoy automatic income tax exemption. For properties which are used for exclusively charitable purposes, property tax may be exempted in full or partially upon application and review by the Comptroller of Property Tax.
Institutions of a Public Character (IPCs)
IPCs are exempt or registered charities which are able to issue tax deductible receipts for qualifying donations to donors. In other words, donors are able to claim tax relief from their assessable income based on the amount donated, at prevailing deduction rate. As this makes IPCs generally more appealing to donors in attracting donations, these organisations are rightfully held to a higher standard, both in terms of regulatory compliance as well as governance.
